The last few days have been tropical in Europe. I am in The Netherlands at the moment. Where temperatures have
risen to all-time heights, and I have to say, that most of the Dutch houses are not really build to resist these heatwaves, let alone having air conditioning. I live at a 5 min distance from the beach and even didn’t fancy going there. Hanging out in the shade or in some cold water was probably the best what you could do. Hanging out in the cold water of the spa relax, slowing and cooling down, seemed like a brilliant idea. Which helps me to get more relaxed, be more creative for new ideas and see things from a different perspective.
People, animals, plants all adapt to their environment. Sometimes we need to slow down, wait, surrender, adjust and find a balance again. I don’t think there is a straightforward definition of balance because every circumstance is different. But I do think that we are capable to find our “natural” balance by being aware of our thoughts, bodies, emotions, and behaviors. The more aware we become the quicker we get into balance. Perhaps you are wondering how you can get aware of your thoughts?
Well, it is as simple as sitting down, I prefer to close my eyes to be less distracted by my environment, and literally asking yourself; What do I believe right now? And something will pop up. Without judgment, let it come and let it be and you could ask the next question when I believe this, what else do I believe. Etc Within a couple of minutes you will have a couple of your (limiting) beliefs. Then you could ask yourself is this belief helping me to live my best life ever, or is it perhaps holding you back. We have created beliefs because we thought that they would help us at some stage in our lives but if we are not aware of them they will be there on an unconscious level. And we will keep using these beliefs even when they are not serving us anymore.
I challenge you to take a couple of minutes and see your beliefs and check if these are helping you to be the person you would like to be or to live the life you would like to live, etc. If not replace them with a new belief. This little exercise only takes you a couple of minutes but has so much impact on your life!
